Philadelphia Protestant Home
Pathways and Chapters
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The existing Health Care Center building at the Philadelphia Protestant Home did not allow the client to provide the kind of service they wanted to provide to residents. Our firm was commissioned to design a completely new Health Care Center and convert the existing one to Personal Care. The new Health Care Center is a cluster design, bringing residents together into smaller more homelike groups. The design takes advantage of a variety of vistas to the exterior through lounges and dining rooms and from the main corridor. The layout permits a sense of discovery as one walks through the facility.
After the construction of the new Health Care Center Pathways, at the Philadelphia Protestant Home, the former Nursing facility, the Webb Pavilion, was converted to Personal Care. This project includes studio apartments and a multi-purpose living space specifically designed to provide for the needs of residents with early stage dementia.
